April 30, 2008 Girls turn!!

After dinner tonight we headed out to switch out the boys and girls. The boys are going into the field at the barn where the girls have been hanging out all winter. With just the 2 of them munching the grass will have a chance to grow now. The girls were soooooo excited to get out into the big field. Ellie was more excited than the goats were though. Some people have told us if the guard dogs ever get out of the fence you'll never see them again. Let me tell you the way she shot through the gate I truly believe she thought she was a free woman. LOL She ran the fence checking things out and then when she saw she was still "trapped" she settled back in with the goats. I had to leave to go to a t-ball meeting. I'm the new Vice President of the Campbellsburg T-ball comission. I'm really not sure what I've gotten myself into. Michael said that the goats did well tonight though and that Ellie has made herself a home right behind the house. You guys know what this means don't you??

THE BOAT IS GOING IN THE WATER FOR THE FIRST TIME SATURDAY!!!!!!!!!!!

April 29, 2008 The boys. :o)

Tonight we got all the gates fixed up with chain length and woven wire. Cha ching. We were able to get a few more posts clipped but ran out of clips. Darn. But on a good note it was enough to turn the boys out for tonight. Tomorrow we will swap them out with the girls. Since they out number the boys 17 to 2 they get the big field for now. They were so happy. You could just watch their bellies puffing out with all the grass they were stuffing in. I'm pretty sure they probably won't sleep tonight cause they'll have a belly ache. :o)

April 28, 2008 Magazines and such

This couldn't have come at a better time. :o) Even though we don't have a clue where and why all of these magazines are coming our way. We don't subscribe to them. We started getting Progressive Farmer for some unknown reason. LOL Michael seems to enjoy it. Today in the mail we got Backpacker. Never heard of it and have no idea why we are getting it. But one issue has camping and hiking tips. Whoohooo!

I begged out of work early today so we could get the gates fixed tonight before the rain started. No such luck. We got chain length on 1 gate and it started pouring down. Oh, well. I got time to update my blog. :o) I promise I am going to try and do better with getting a pic up everyday again. We are hoping now to be done with the fence by Wednesday and then watch out we are going camping. So hopefully I will have some more interesting things to post. Alex's first t-ball game is also coming up on May 20th. Should be interesting.

April 27, 2008 T-ball Ackkk!

We decided to give Alex one last chance at T-ball. I took the camera last time and it was a bust so this time I'll just snap a pic before we leave and hope that he was just camera shy the last time.

We got to practice and he ran out and played just like he'd known these kids forever. LOL Everyone was like "isn't he the little shy kid from last time??" Yup, he loves t-ball now. They had practice running the bases, hitting the ball and fielding the ball. Lets hope this continues.

April 26, 2008 Happy Birthday Mom!

Today is Mom's 57th birthday!! No party though. Only work to be done around here. :o) We started pulling fence again and sorry Dad that I didn't get a pic of you on the dozer. We had to clear out the property line fence which was an absolute mess of at least a 100 year old rusty barbed wire. This was the last bit of fence to be put up and then all that will be left is time consuming piddly things. Clipping t posts, hanging gates and putting chain length on then so the babies can't get out, running barbed wire at the top and bottom. Ugh, I'm getting tired just thinking about it. Here's a pic of the run next to the house. Hopefully by Tuesday nights we'll have our goats in their new pen.

April 25, 2008 Stihl

Alex stayed with Granny Charlotte and Popal Ed today. This is Mikey's last day on day shift. Sunday it's back to the real world. sniff sniff. We started work on the fence as soon as I got home from work and worked until dark. Too busy to get the camera out. Literally we were pulling fence in the light of the tractor. LOL So I did see Alex's new little chainsaw when I came in the house. It's too cool. Has a little chain and everything. He suckered Popal Mickey into getting it for him at Hawkins.

April 24, 2008 school pictures

We got Alex's "spring" school pictures in. They let you preview these before you buy. They were O.K, but we opted to not buy these. They weren't as good as we'd hoped. But here they are for you guys to see anyway.

April 23, 2008 I need a nap.

Tonight when I got home from training and found little man sacked out on the couch. Evidently 2 days with Daddy is hard on a little fella.

April 22, 2008 New Baby

I left to go out of town today for training and guess what? One of the goats decided to have her baby. A big healthy baby boy. Very cute. Michael didn't take a pic and I haven't gotten around to it yet. Soooo I'll try to get one and update then.

April 21, 2008 Watering the lawn

You'd think that with all the rain we've had we shouldn't be doing this. :o) We put down new grass seed and planted a tree out there so of course now it won't rain. So here I am watering what will soon be the prettiest patch of grass on the whole place. We'd been composting and gardening in that spot for years and the dirt is almost black.

April 20, 2008 T-ball

Today was the first and more than likely last t-ball practice for Alex. He would not come out from behind the trucks long enough to even meet the kids. We were there at the ball field for an hour and a half and we tried the entire time to get him to join the team. The coach took him off to the side and hit balls to him and passed to him and his wife did the same. Then tried to get him to get in line with the rest of the kiddos and he wouldn't have none of it. They got ready to go out on the field and have batting practice and Alex had a meltdown so we apologized and left. He was fine as long as it was just him and 1 other person playing together but no group or team effort for him. We don't understand it. He just kept saying that he just wanted to play like we do at home. I guess with just the 3 of us. Who knows. Here he is passing with Daddy.

April 19, 2008 Fence Fence and more Fence

This morning Dad, Alex and I set posts by the house while Michael was off turkey hunting. Does something seem wrong with that picture?? LOL He really needed a break so I can't give him too much grief. I shopped all day last Saturday while he worked. I guess we're even now.

April 18, 2008 Pretty foliage

I thought this would make a pretty picture. It's the Shagbark Hickory in our back yard. The leaves are really popping open. I had been suffering under the dilusion for years now that it was a walnut tree, but my husband not wanting me to make a fool out of myself corrected me on what kind of tree it actually is. :o)

April 17, 2008 No more garden

This is where our garden used to be. We moved the railroad ties and Michael ran the disc through it so we can sew it with grass seed.

April 16, 2008 Ziggy Piggy

His name says it all. He has got to be the fattest cat I've ever seen. When he walks his belly sways back and forth and back and forth. He's a pretty good kitty though. Ziggy will be 11 this year so I guess he's entitled to be a bit puddy around the middle. LOL

April 15, 2008 4 years

It's hard to believe that you've been gone for 4 years now. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of you and miss you. Loosing you was the hardest thing I've ever had to deal with. Not getting to say goodbye, the fact that you were taken too soon. I hate it that you never got to meet your great grandson. I know he would have loved you as much as I did and still do. I do know that you were up there with the big guy pulling strings to get him home to us though. The way everything fell together for us there had to be angels looking over us. I still tear up everytime I look at your picture sitting on the dresser and wish you were here. I have so many great childhood memories and almost all of them have you in them. All the times that the 4 of us got into some kind of mischief just to get a rise out of you. I know you wouldn't have had it any other way. I know that death is a part of life, but it doesn't make it any easier............

I miss you and love you Granny. Everyday.

March 14, 2008 Start of a good week

So far this month Alex has done great at school. Granted he hasn't been for a week but he's all smiley's so far. Yippeeee!!

April 13, 2008 Gobble Gobble Gobble

Not anymore. :o) Mikey braved the crazy weather this morning and bagged himself a nice turkey. Yeah honey!! I swamped over to the farm to take a pic for him. He hasn't really been "feeling" hunting this year because of all the work we've been having to do here at home to get pasture for the goats. I'm afraid that after this morning he has been bitten by the bug. If I would have drug my sorry self out with him we could've had 2 in the freezer. The other tom that was with this one hung around and attacked the one that Michael shot. Too bad you can only kill one per day.

April 12, 2008 Got water?

This is my jug of water. It is 2.2 liters. I drink one of these everyday sometimes 1 1/2. It's not only good for you, but it's great exercise packing this thing around. LOL

April 11, 2008 Garden Stuff

Our seeds for the garden have arrived. I got a good deal on stuff from Gurney's. We've decided to make the garden a lot bigger this year so I've ordered just about every kind of veggie you can imagine. Now if it will ever quit raining long enough to get the disc's run through the garden so we can plant stuff.

April 10, 2008 Salato Wildlife Center

Today Mommy took off work and we went the game farm in Frankfort with B, Maggie and baby Jace. We had a picnic lunch and got to see all sorts of animals it was so much fun. Mommy and B forgot to bring the fishing poles so we just threw rocks in the lake instead. We got into a bit of trouble for letting the kids climb on the rocks around the waterfall. Whoops. We sorta missed the big sign that said no wading or climbing on rocks. hehehe

April 9, 2008 Can anyone guess what I'm doing?

You guessed it. Our little redneck relieving himself outside. When we were potty training him we just let him go wherever so I guess we created the monster. LOL

April, 8 2008 Outside fun with Granny

Here is Alex and Granny dragging each other up and down the hill out back with a rope. It was quite entertaining.

April 7, 2008 Sleepover

This week is springbreak as most of you know. Today Aunty Jo Jo and Uncle Dusty took Alex to the Louisville Zoo and to "Daddyland" (gaddyland). He had a blast seeing the animals and eating pizza. Thanks Jo Jo and Dusty!!!

Tonight Grandma Charlotte came to get Alex for a sleepover. He is staying with her and Popal Ed tomorrow. He was very excited and had his little suitcase packed and ready to go.

April 6, 2008 Work Work Work

Sunday was a beautiful day. The grass is growing, the sun finally showed itself and the trees are blooming. What did we do? Work ourselves stupid all day. LOL We got up, worked on fence, cleaned off the hillside down front, mowed the yard, moved dirt, it was exhausting. When we all finally stopped after dark, we crashed. Alex had been out on the motorcycle all day, chasing me on the mower then Granny. He helped Popal Mickey move dirt and helped us that morning move sticks off the hillside.

Here are some pics from the day. The first stripes in the yard, Alex on the motorcycle and him and Popal moving dirt.

April 5, 2008 My (Kim's) deer

Our taxidermist called and said that my deer mount was ready. Whoohooo. I get to take one of Michael's down and replace it with mine. That's right!!

After we got back from picking up the deer (mine and Dad's was ready) and Dad made me carsick my Uncle and his 2 kiddo's came up to play with Alex. It was a little cool outside but they had a blast anyway.

April 4, 2008 It rained.

Imagine that. We may have to build an ark! Alex stayed with Granny and Popal tonight and Mommy and Daddy played cards. I totally forgot to take a pic!

April 3, 2008 Kimmie's work

It's a slow day here in food stamp world and I have my camera with me, so here's my office and me working sooooo very hard. LOL Since I'm always the one behind the camera I just figured I'd take a self portrait. I'll toot my own horn while I'm at it, I've lost 20lbs under trainer Mikey's supervision. YEAH ME!! 5 more and I get to have PIZZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

April 2, 2008 Time for school!!

Alex has had all smilies so far this week and he is tore up over going to school. He raced out to the car this morning and strapped himself into the car and was looking at me like hurry up!!

April 1, 2008 April fools.

It was a wonderful evening to play outside. Alex is doing much better with his behavior in school so we are actually getting to have some fun with him. Here he is on his tire swing. He likes to be pushed really high so he'll bounce off the actual swingset. Looks like he was having a good time.
