I'm off work all this week so Alex and I are just hanging out. Daddy only works 2 days too so we'll be spending some quality time together. Alex's bff stayed for the day with us since his mommy and daddy had to work today. We ended up going to Micky d's for lunch and spent almost 2 hours in playland. When we got back home they wanted to go back to the barn and help Michael with the feeding and such. T can ride a bike no problem without training wheels. Alex is doing very well without them, but on flat ground only. hehehehe. So today he broke out the tricycle that has been hanging out in the shop. It was too muddy for the dirt bike so he opted for the next best thing I guess.

December 28, 2008 Another baby
Flower, not to be outdone had her baby today. He's a very cute little booger. We had been to my aunt and uncles house during the day for a Christmas meal. We don't do gifts or anything, it's just about being together and sharing a meal which is the way it should be. We stopped and picked up a friend of Alex's to spend the night and when we got home Flower had just had her baby. They are being very stingy this year so far both girls have only had 1 baby each. Both of these girls each had twins last year. Oh, well. The babies are healty and Alex is eat up with them. He wanted to name this one Fluffy too. LOL What's up with that?????
December 25, 2008 Christmas day
We got up Christmas morning to the excited sound of Alex running through the house yelling that Santa had been here!! So we drug ourselves out of bed and gathered around the presents taking it all in. Michael stepped outside to check on the goats really quick and much to our surprise Lily was having a Christmas baby. So we had to put the presents on hold and go get her up in the barn. She was just in labor so we weren't sure how long it would be. We headed back to the house and opened up our presents and Michael headed back to the barn to take check on her. He had to end up pulling the baby who Alex also name Fluffy LOL For the rest of the day we just hung out and played with the Wii that Santa had brought for Alex and all the other goodies. He got tons of Star Wars action figures, Magnetix, the much sought after Blendy Pens and much much more. LOL The elusive Transformer body that he has wanted for years has still not been found. ;o) Santa left him a very apologetic letter for not being able to get him the transformer body.
December 17, 2008 The not so small Sasha
This crazy dog is not bigger than Ellie. It's unreal how fast he's grown. I mean we've only had him since August and he was right at 4 mo old when we brought him home. He's showing no signs of stopping anytime soon. His feet are absolutely HUGE!! We had gotten him a blue camo collar and name tag to go along with Ellie's pink collar. He's since lost it and I just can't hardly tell them apart!! He's has turned into the best guard dog you could ask for. Him and Ellie are getting along famously and are keeping the herd safe from the yotes.
December 7, 2008 Alex's "pet"
Again I'm not sure on the day but Alex got this little doggy he calls "Fluffy" at the Holiday Bazaar. It's the cutest little thing. When you push it along it has little feet that are made of what looks like like a tire tube that flips. The day we got it we went on into Louisville and he had to take it everywhere with us. Fluffy even ate in Frisches with us.
November 30, 2008 Ear Candling
I'm not sure when Jo Jo and I originally did this but I know she bought more on the day after Thanksgiving. Her Dr. told her she had a huge ball of "crud" in her ear and recommended that she use ear candles. We had used them before on Alex and they are quite amazing. I still don't completely understand how they work but they just do. The proof is in the end of the burned candle.
November 27, 2008 Happy Turkey Day
I know I know once again I am so far behind on this blog it's not funny and I'm going to finish out the year kinda hopping around. :o) Alex had a pumpkin that he'd decorated for Halloween at school. I bought the small pie pumpkin and told him from the get go it would eventually become a pie. :o) For the entire week leading up to Turkey day Alex had been rushing home from school to hide the pumpkin from me. hehehehehe Too cute huh? So Thanksgiving morning rolled around and guess what? The pumpkin was no where to be found. So after much fussing and fighting he finally brought the pumpkin to me. I mean heck it was going to rot anyway. Might as well enjoy it. Of course our picky son wouldn't even take a bite of the pie, but I assure you it was well worth the sacrifice.

November 16, 2008 Poachers............
Well, tonight turned out to be fairly interesting. Michael and Dad witnessed a poacher across the ridge. It was well after legal shooting hours when the headlights were seen and the gunshot was heard. Without going into the whole story, 2 hours, 1 state trooper and 3 game wardens later this poor thing was found in the woods. Her backend had been blown off and the bullet exited through her gut. The game warden let us take the deer so she wouldn't be a total waste. It's just sickening that people have to stoop to such a level. Michael's hand is bigger than her head. They had evidently dragged her into the woods to come back for later or the next morning who knows. It's just ridiculous that some people don't have anymore respect for wildlife than that.
November 15, 2008 Good Grief!!
November 14, 2008 Bye Bye 9ft tree
In 2002 we bought this tree the day after Christmas. We had grand plans of building a house and whatnot. Little did we know what the next few years would bring. Struggles with infertility, and a journey to our little man. So, 6 years later I still don't have room for a 9ft Christmas tree and decided to let it go. I posted it on the internet for sale and it went that evening. We wouldn't trade what we have now for anything. :o)
November 13, 2008 old pics
I've been on a cleaning rant at the house and while cleaning out an old trunk I came across some pics from my senior year. Quite funny I may add. Check out the do!!! I know I've got some good pics of Mikey around here somewhere I'm gonna have to dig them out. This was my last day of school with my buds.

11/12/08 JO JO and Dusty are back

Aunty Jo and Uncle Dusty have been Las Vegas and Hollywood since last Sunday. They got in
late last night and came bearing gifts. :o) Universal Studios and Disney Land were on their list of stops. Alex got a cool pair of Mickey ears that are Pirates of the Carribean theme. Too cool. He also got some magnet rocks from the Grand Canyon and Dusty built him a light saber that is way cool. Star Wars (all of them new and old) are his favorites. He also got some spiderman dog tags. Michael and I got some cool t-shirts and a necklace for me.
11/9/09 Moving the herd

Today after michael killed the button buck (lol) we moved all the goats and cows to different fields. The billies have been doing their "thing" with the girls and it was time for everyone to be separated again for the winter. We've got our first round of babies due in December. Whoohoo. Here we go again. Alex had a big time with "Sarge" and "Marian" they were chasing him around and nipping at his pants. Michael knocked a hole in to one of the stalls so the goats would have more room. The boys are back in solitary for the time being. They fought so much it looked like a bloodbath in their stall. Both are getting along good now though.
11/8/09 Deer Season again...........

I have given up on hunting. I'm just not feeling it anymore. Michael on the other hand is now having to kill enough deer for the both of us and is doing a bang up job already. He took a doe on Saturday and one on Sunday. Oh, wait. LOL That was a button buck he killed on SUnday. LOL He's been terribly upset over it. It's just not something he'd do. More like something I'd do. Oh, well. They'll both eat good. Alex was ready to pose for a pic in his Daddy's first hunting tobbagan.
11/7/08 Field Trip

Today things were slow at work so the girls and I took a field trip to our house. Our first cow "Sarge" is named after my Supervisor Sandy. :o) She has a thing for cows and wants to buy him from us and pay us to board him so we won't eat him next year. Not going to happen. LOL She's been dying to come and see him and all of our other critters so we made a day of it. Sarge got to feed "Sarge" and the goats. Mel and Cindy had a big time too. The critters loved it cause they got extra food.

October 25, 2008 More camping

We went to Alex's last soccer game this morning and then stopped by the house to get more firewood since it's so darn cold outside. I had Alex dressed in at least 4 layers. LOL We headed back to the campground and started on a pot of beans and queso dip. We tie dyed t'shirts at 3:00 and then trick or treating started at 6:00 so we carved pumpkins and got dressed up in the time in between. It was a lot of fun but camping 14 miles from your house just isn't like camping. It was way to close and made it too easy to forget stuff and have to run out to the Walmart or Kroger. It was a great time for the kids though and we've already made our reservations to come back next year.
October 24, 2008 Halloween Camping

Today we headed out for General Butler State park a whopping 14 miles from our house. LOL It was pouring down rain and just miserable most of the day. We went down and set up before Alex got out of school and then had to come back and get him off the bus and then head off to the Fall Festival. It was a busy evening and tomorrow isn't going to be much better. :o) Alex has his last soccer game in the morning at 10:00 and then we have to get back for all the festivities at the campground.
October 23, 2008 STAR STUDENT!!!!!!!!
Alex was the star student for the week in his class. We are so proud of him. We had to make an all about me poster and bad Mommy forgot to take a pic of it so I'll take one when he brings it back home and post it. I went and had lunch with him on Tuesday, Michael on Wednesday and then on Friday Granny Nita and Popal Mickey went and then they got to have the cookies he took to school for a snack. He was so proud of himself. GO ALEX!!!!!

September 22, 2008 New floor
September 20, 2008 New paint

Today I primed and put a base coat of paint on the bathroom. We ended up having to put up a new piece of drywall where the switches are because the medicine cabinet that was up there was built into the wall. Michael put that up for me and then the paint started flying. We also decided to cut out the closet and open it up. There was a tiny little door but the closet was good size. This way we will have a ton more room. This isn't the color that the room will inevitably be. I'm doing a faux finish and the actual paint is a metal finish. I can't wait to see what it looks like because right now I'm afraid of the orange.

October 17, 2008 Tearing up the bathroom.

Tonight I took everything out of the bathroom in preparation for some remodeling. You don't realize how much crap you have until you start moving it from point a to point b. Right now everything is scattered from one end of the house to the other. We're all going to be living out of Alex's bathroom until we get ours back in order. This is what our bedroom looks like after the bathroom puked on it. :o)
October 16, 2008 A little surprise

Today Alex got a package in the mail from a little elf in New Mexico. :o) On the front it said for Alex and Michael only to open. There was a nifty little Halloween windsock for Alex and another envelope for him to give to Mommy. Inside the envelope was a note that said thank you for taking such good care of me love Alex and a pretty necklace for Mommy to wear. It was very sweet. Alex has been absolutely tore up over halloween this year. He has had to help everyone decorate. Thanks Grandma D!! We love you!!

October 14, 2008 Soccer Practice

Michael is working everyday this week so that he can be off to hunt this weekend for black powder. Me, I'm gonna tear up our bathroom. My hunting days are just about over I do believe. I haven't picked up my bow in over 2 years and I only hunted opening morning last year.
Anyway back to soccer practice. With Mikey working that means I'm on soccer duty. We had the last 2 Saturdays off for fall break and no practice so tonight was getting back into the routine. It just sucks because practice starts at 6:30 and with homework and an 8:00 bedtime it just doesn't fit in really well. Nevertheless we had a great time. Aunty Jo kept me company for the practice. We went and surprised Alex for lunch. He was so excited and just loves for people to come and eat with him so Mom and Dad are going to go and eat with him on Friday. They've not had the pleasure of the school lunch yet with 2 tables full of kindergardeners and first graders all wanting to talk to you. hehehehehe Should be interesting. :o)
October 8-12 Cumberland

We took a mini vacation over fall break to Cumberland for some relaxing. Fishing for the boys and scrapping for the girls. Amy and Robbie went with us and then another friend and his kids came down and tent camped. This is the place where the guys do all of their trout fishing and boy did they get to fish. There wasn't much generating going on at all so they got a lot of time in the tailwater. Good thing too since we had planned our last evening meal around the fish that they would catch. LOL We really noticed a huge difference in Alex over the course of the week. He was able to sit and work on a project for more than 5 minutes at a time and was just so much calmer to be around. It was really great. The meds have effected his eating but mainly just lunch. He still eats good for breakfast and dinner just not in between. He and Daddy had a great time one evening just the two of them fishing. I snuck down to take some pics of course. LOL All in all probably the best trip that we've had all year. YEAH!!

October 2, 2008 Dr visit
This afternoon we took Alex to the pediatrician. Fun fun. When we got there the waiting room was packed. The docs were running behind. We finally got called at almost 45 min past our appt time and then after they did the weight and height stuff we got shuffled to another waiting area. Another 20 minutes go by until we get a room and then another 20 until the doc came in. Thirty minutes later we were heading out the door with our prescription for Focalin XR. We needed a few things at Wally World so we decided to take the prescription there. Bad move. I dropped it off at the pharmacy and they told me it would be about 40 minutes. No biggie. We went on about our business and after an hour they called out name to come to the pharmacy. They didn't have enough meds to fill the prescription. I just about lost it. We finished up with our shopping and headed across the street to WalGreens. 15 minutes later we had the pills and were heading home. Our appt. was at 1:45 and it was after 6 before we finally walked in the door at home. Tomorrow we will give the meds a try.
October 1, 2008 Where has the year gone
Time is flying by so fast. Alex is growing up entirely too fast. Everyone always said that the older you get the faster it goes. I guess they were right. Alex already has a little girl that he wants to take on a date. I asked if she was his girlfriend and he told me no that he just wanted to go out with her. LOL
September 30, 2008 A new day
We just don't know what to think now that we finally know what is up with little man. :o) We are very anxious to get things moving with his ped on Thursday. Not much going on really.

September 29, 2008 The Big Day
We decided to go ahead and send Alex to school this morning as to not disrupt his daily routine before we headed out to the Dr. So I put him on the bus like normal at 7:15 and then I started my morning routine. LOL I came in and got ready and went and put gas in the car and picked up 2 gallons of milk. The 2 smallest calves have gotten the scours and we've changed them over from milk replacer to whole milk to try and fix that little problem. By the time I got all that done and got home and got Michael up we had just enough time to run down and feed all the critters and get to school to pick up Alex at 9:45. Our appointment was at 11am in Louisville and we didn't know where we were going to we made sure that we had plenty of time.
First the Dr. took Michael and I back and went over Alex's behavior at home and had us fill out a question sheet rating his behaviors. Then he told us he was going to bring Alex back. We weren't allowed to stay back there with him it was one on one with the Dr and Alex. The Dr said it would be an hour to an hour and a half and that we could go and do whatever while he was evaluating Alex. So we headed out to Lowes to shop around. I'm getting ready to redo our bathroom now so I had Michael showing me the tile that he liked ect... and we were surfing the clearance stuff.
When we got back to the Dr. we only had to wait about 15 minutes for him to finish up with Alex. He then took us back to talk about his "findings". He chuckled at first and talked about what a "spitfire" Alex was and that he was full of stories and just went a mile a minute the entire time. Got him on a good day I guess. :o) He told us what we've suspected all along that Alex is definitely ADHD. He's got all the signs. We meet with the pediatrician on Thursday to discuss medications........ Stay tuned.................

September 28, 2008 quiet day
Alex didn't get home from his sleepover until after 3pm so Mommy and Daddy slept in until after 9am which is unheard of around the house is Alex is home. :o) We fed the calves and just piddled around the house and then Dad and Michael went and worked on deer stands and Mom and I rode to Wally World. Tomorrow is the big Dr visit. We're all anxiously awaiting the outcome of this visit.
Alex had a great time with Ty. They got to ride a horse and now guess what?? Alex thinks he needs a horse. We told him he is just going to have to tuff it out with the goats, cows and dogs for now. Mommy and Daddy have their hands full.

September 27, 2008 Sporting Clays

This morning I wasn't feeling any better so I told Michael I wasn't going to go shoot. He started waking up people to get someone to go with him to the shoot. No dice. I felt bad for him so I drug myself out of bed and went to the bathroom several times before we left and then ran to Dad's to get some "miracle medicine" as he called it. I took one before we left since it said it could cause drowsiness. No help whatsoever. I was in the bathroon 4 times at the shoot before we ever went out on the range. Seemed to have gotten it all out and was fine until I ate lunch. Started feeling aweful again. So now not only do I have an upset stomach I've got the bruise from hell on my shoulder. I took 2 more of Dad's wonder pills and slept away the afternoon and by the evening I was feeling much better. Alex is going to spend the night with his friend Ty tonight which is a good thing. I would hate it if he ended up with what I've got. On a very very good note, he had 5 smiley faces this week. That's a first since school started!!!! Go Alex!!
